WEST ARTHUR WIND FARM
THE PROJECT
Lacour Energy are progressing feasibility studies for a potential wind farm development across the Shires of West Arthur and Wagin
The project is located relatively close to the Western Power high voltage network infrastructure at Collie, which is a crucial advantage as it reduces connection cost and new powerline easements required.
The West Arthur Wind Farm has been in development for approximately three years and is now more than halfway through its feasibility phase. The project will likely be progressed in up to 3 stages to allow for the ongoing development of the power network in the region.
We are progressing feasibility studies for a potential first stage of the wind farm, which will inform the size of this project. The first stage is centered approximately 10km south west of Darkan. It is currently estimated that the first stage will comprise 70-100 wind turbines.
Current workstreams underway on the project include:
Wind monitoring and wind energy modelling
Environmental surveys
Project definition development
Stakeholder engagement
Grid connection assessments
As the development process progresses, we will engage with all stakeholders in a manner consistent with industry best practice to build an understanding of the project and any potential impacts as well as seek input on the development concept. As part of the development process of the first stage, we are speaking with neighbours, the local Council and the wider community on the proposed project design.
Over time, further stages of the project may be developed, which will have their own consultation and approval process. Should the entire 3 stage wind farm be constructed it will be over 1,000 MW in size.
Timelines
The West Arthur Project has been under investigation since 2022, and the project is currently in the planning and approvals stage of development.

If the feasibility is successful, construction is planned to commence in 2027, with the construction period for the project of around 24 months. The wind farm is targeted to supply electricity into the Western Power network before 2030.
